Hi Doc,

unfortunately I don't have any more details on this. I doubt that even a museum of international standard would transform Anlong Veng into a world tourist destination.

Best,
Stefan

Dear Stefan,

You state that Cambodian government has granted plans to develop Anlong Veng into a prime tourist destination. If would be grateful if you could provide more detail about the types of tourist and source of information that you have been aware of.
If an International Standard Museum of Khmer Rouge (example Jewish Museum in Berlin) will be constructed in Anglong Veng (best place in Cambodia to be built), do you thing it will become one of the world tourist destination ?
Do you know when the Power and Water Supply in Anlong Veng will be commenced ? I have heard the contract of power supply has been given to someone but the successful contractor has done nothing to date. These two vital elements are most important for locals to develop the area.

So far, we proud to see National Rod No.67 being well constructed, the increasing of population, houses, accommodations, restaurants as well as number of tourists and travelers in this area.

Regards

Hi DOC,

I also heard that the Cambodian government has grant plans to develop Anlong Veng into a prime tourist destination. It certainly is an interesting place but I don't think this kind of attraction will attract tourists in masses. It is an interesting experience though talking to former Khmer Rouges in their former stronghold.

Best,
Stefan

I am very interested in Anlong Veng due to the followings:
. Only the best place for reserving Khmer Rouge history (A world biggest terror history).
. Construction of National Road No 67 in Anlong Veng provides significant conveniences. The road is a short cut and simply the best amongst the others for those who wish to travel inland from Thailand to Cambodia (Angkor Watt) or from Cambodia to Thailand. Late of December 2006 I was travelling from Bangkok at 7 am (passed Korat, Surin, Chhom Sagnam border and National Road 67 in Anlong Veng) and arrived in Siem Reap City at around 2.30 pm.
. Upon the construction of National Road 67 is finished, the new Border between Thailand and Cambodia " Chhom Sagnam" will be officially opened to provide, communication, economic and tourist grown between two countries.
. Near future, I have heard there will be many Tourist development in Anlong Veng in conjunction to Pol Pot history ...

In these respect, i believe Anlong Veng will change and see its future near the future.

Yours Faithfully.

Hi Matt,

haven't been to the place since this post but assume the situation is still similar. However, I have also heard about plans to market these Pol Pot sites as major tourist attraction. Not sure how feasible that is and assume there is still ample opportunity to dig for bones.

I'm currently studying Theatre at a University and my class on Asian Theatre History was just discussing Cambodia and Pol Pot's regime. Your website allowed me to put a visual picture to the places I've been studying, thanks!
